How has the pandemic impacted performances at the Met?

On March 12, 2020, the Met closed due to the health crisis. Subsequently, the Governor ordered all theaters to stay closed for the duration of the crisis. As a result, the Met canceled the remaining nine weeks of the 2019–20 season and the entirety of the 2020–21 season. The Met is scheduled to re-open September 27, 2021 with the Met premiere of Fire Shut Up In My Bones, the new opera composed by Terence Blanchard.
