How has the closure impacted the Met’s finances?

The Met has lost $150 million in earned revenues (including losses in ticket sales, Live in HD ticket sales, presentation revenues, shop revenues, and dining revenues). Currently, almost all employees are furloughed. The Met continues to pay medical costs for its orchestra, chorus and furloughed administrative staff.  Senior leadership have also taken deep pay cuts, and the General Manager stopped receiving his salary in its entirety when the Met closed last March. He resumed taking 70% of his salary in January 2021.
