health-and-safety protocols

Our top priority is the safety of the Met’s audiences, artists, orchestra, chorus, and staff. We’ve worked diligently with leading medical and public-health experts to create the safest environment possible.

Overview of Audience Health and Safety Requirements

The following is a summary of the key health and safety requirements currently in place at the Met. Please be sure to also read the detailed requirements below.

For the 2022–23 season, audience members will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination to attend a performance or event.

While inside the opera house, however, everyone is required to wear a properly fitting mask over their nose and mouth, except when eating or drinking in designated areas. Gaiters, bandanas, and masks with exhalation valves are not permitted.
